加拿大卑詩省菲沙谷大學學院（UCFV）將升格成為菲沙谷大學（University of the Fraser Valley，UFV）。
省長金寶爾表示，新的菲沙谷大學將會在它原有的一些國際有名的科系上，進一步發展它的特色，
除原有的犯罪學及刑事司法課程、航空技術課程、加拿大印裔傳統研究，以及各種職業技術課程等強項以外，
明年秋季起將開設另類燃料汽車維修保養職技課程。
最初於1974年成立的菲沙谷學院，1991年升格成為菲沙谷大學學院，部分課程可頒授大學學位。
升格成為正式大學後，將全面頒授學位。
校長貝斯福德（Skip Bassford）強調，非學位的職業技術課程日後仍將全面保留。
菲沙谷學院，去除以往模稜兩可的「大學學院」名稱而升格為正式大學，對學校的發展有很多好處，
譬如所頒的學位具更高可信度、更容易招聘教員，可以更廣泛吸納全國及國際層面的學生，
並可尋求更多捐獻，用於基礎建設及獎學金的提供。
菲沙谷內有了第一所的大學，對於整個地區都有好處，可以提升經濟競爭力，吸引更多專業人士前來，並可讓更多大學生留在本地。
目前菲沙谷大學學院共有1萬4049名學生，包括568名外籍學生；
在阿伯斯福特、吉利華、米臣設有校區，另在阿格西斯和希望鎮有教學中心

The University of the Fraser Valley (UFV), (formerly known as University College of the Fraser Valley) was founded in 1974 as the Fraser Valley College. The college was the response to the communities in the Fraser Valley needing expanded vocational training. In 1988, it became a university college, with degree-granting status. As the University College of the Fraser Valley, it grew rapidly, becoming one of the largest university colleges in Canada.
In recognition of the growing needs for higher education within the region and in the province, the provincial government granted full university status in 2008. At the time it became the University of the Fraser Valley, student enrollment was over 10,000 students each year, with over 1,500 graduates.
